“Sultry Summer Afternoon”  c.2002

64” l x 41” w

Machine pieced, machine quilted, hand appliquéd with stuffed embellishments

Mostly commercial fabric, some hand dyed

Original Design

This quilt was made as part of a challenge from my small quilt group.  We each made a quilt from 103 brightly colored small fabric pieces (1/16 to 1/8 yards).  I added many greens to mine to make a quilt that reminded me of hot, humid summer afternoons in Virginia – which is when and where I was designing the quilt.  (Thanks to Robyn Nichols – the challenger and fabric provider.)
