Highlights:
Colonial Beach is a tiny town on the Potomac River, still quaint and very friendly.
Walking and biking are easy here and it’s a golf cart community. You can rent a golf cart in town. Best of all, you walk or ride along the water.
There is very long boardwalk and public beach to enjoy; swim, fish or bring your boat – there’s a public dock.
Restaurants here vary from quite affordable to just a little more pricey – try Lenny’s (open every day) for breakfast or lunch, or Ola’s (open every day til 7 pm) anytime for affordable eats ; also available Chinese food, terrific Thai and French, steaks, lots of seafood or sandwiches and burgers; pizza and ice cream, of course
Stay in one of the many local B & Bs - Tides Inn and Plaza B & B both show art work on Second Fridays.
Rent a cottage for a week or two – and relax in a small town atmosphere.
Take a trolley ride on summer weekends.
Ride on the golf cart taxi to venues on summer Second Friday Art Walk if walking is difficult for you – or if you have toddlers that can’t walk far.
