American Paisley”

©2005, 8 ¼” w x 15 ½” l

American Paisley was inspired by Haitian and Indian wall hangings, and to some extent Belgian lace, but without the fragility that usually marks all of these “delicate”.  In Midwestern practical-fashion, this piece was embellished with a sewing machine – fringe and decorative elements made with water soluble stabilizer.  Background made from fiberglass ”termite screen” purchased at the hardware store.
